What do you do?
I work as a Business Analyst/Assistant Project Manager in an IT company. My role is to establish and maintain good relationships and effective communication between customers and the technical team. I translate customer requirements into technical requirements for the developers to work from.
How did you get into that?
I started my career 4 years ago as a business development executive. This gave me the opportunity to develop my influencing skills. I received positive feedback from all my managers and was encouraged to become a business analyst.
Do you have a mentor or anyone who supports you? Has that always been the case?
Yes, I report to a Project Manager. He has been very supportive, providing the different tools to learn, and giving me time for training. He also makes himself available to offer advice or a second opinion when I need it.
Who inspires you?
The CEO of my company. He is a very hard worker and always has a solution for every problem.
What do you wish you’d known 10 years ago? What difference would knowing that have made?
I work with people from all over the world. I wish I had explored the world and the different cultures. It would have helped me understand the people I work with now.
What do you find challenging about your job?
My biggest challenge is all the international travel associated with working for my clients. I enjoy it though.
What advice do you have for girls or women considering a tech role?
Never give up!
